![]() ![]() The mobile app is basic, but does the job. One of the most flexible desktop sync clients (two-way, one-way mirror, one-way backup etc.). Zero knowledge encrypted storage as standard, open source software, servers based in Germany. 2 TB 9 euros monthly or 90 euros annually. 500 GB = 4 euros monthly or 40 euros annually. Or if anybody else has a recommendation for affordable, secure storage that I can use without much skills, and that offer decent support, I would appreciate your advice. Lastly, I was looking into Mediafire (and MEGA), which look like good options, but I am just not sure. Google drive is pretty self-explanatory but rather pricy for my limited budget. ![]() I however also found reviews mentioning terrible to non-existent support, which I really want to avoid. I looked into many reviews and comparisons and iCloud seems to come out on top. My budget is somewhat limited so I have to look for best options. I have done a lot of scouring lately and there seems to be no consensus at all as to what is a good and reliable cloud storage.ĭegoo for example has been praised for good pricing and zero-knowledge encryption, but others absolutely slate it for terrible security and claim that the service is shutting down. This is exactly what I've been looking for! It's open-source (only front-end, but they explain why backend is not open-source in their GitHub), super secure, minimalist, well-thought-out, their FAQ is well presented and answers to many good questions, it's more affordable than Tresorit, and the CEO ( u/johnozbay) is even VERY active within the Reddit community and answers to very specific technical questions and you can see that he's made very good decisions business-wise and technical-wise and that he knows his shit on a side note, the sad part is, as he said it himself, there's not a centralized place where all his answers are somehow aggregated, so sometimes he answers to the same questions 2-3 times which can be time consuming for both him and people looking for answers, but I digress.Īll in all, Tresorit for me is a "yes", but Cryptee is a "HELL YEAH!" it meets all my needs.Sorry to bring up this question, which I assume is being asked very frequently.īasically, I am trying to get away from Degoo. They even have a nice website with recommended softwares: Īnd that's where I found Cryptee. So I kept digging and found a cool subreddit: /r/PrivacyGuides I want to give everyone free, unlimited and encrypted cloud storage with the help of donations from the community to keep things going.Īlso, it seems Mega made some questionnable decisions regarding their encryption more on this here. But my non-compete clause is running out at the end of the year and I will create a Mega competitor that is completely open source and non-profit, similar to the Wikipedia model. I don't think your data is safe on Mega anymore. As a result of this and a number of other confidential issues I don't trust Mega anymore. In addition Hollywood has seized all the Megashares in the family trust that was setup for my children. ![]() Which means the NZ government is in control. Recently his shares have been seized by the NZ government. He used a number of straw-men and businesses to accumulate more and more Mega shares. The company has suffered from a hostile takeover by a Chinese investor who is wanted in China for fraud. ![]() Neither in a managing nor in a shareholder capacity. Mega is sadly not an option anymore since Dotcom has no relation to it anymore:ĭotcom: I'm not involved in Mega anymore. I have the free plans of all and all have there good and bad but I want to see what others think. Treasure I have the most free storage with 290gb and it seems to be working great but should I truly be concerned about the fact its located in Singapore if indeed its zero knowledge encryption and not even them or any government entity can gain access? So many different perspectives on all these topics and questions so I would really like to get other peoples perspective on them. Can anyone in as short a response as possible (don't care for the long winded responses that tend to lose site of the topics posts) give your two cents input on these 4 services going head to head and which you think its the one to go with and why? Price wise I would say Fileon, track record and longevity its surely Mega, what about service performance, bang for your buck and overall privacy? I know IceDrive you have to have a paid plan to get zero knowledge encryption wheras IceDrive and FileOn you do not. ![]()
